Speed Bluuuuurs…

It had been a few years since i last experimented with underwater shots so on a trip earlier this year to the Maldives i decided to spend a few sessions with the goggles on, ducking under and shooting while the guys went passed. This session i mixed it up and decided to slow the shutter speed down from your usual 1/1000 sec to anything from 1/15th to 1/30th. In the end i’m really stoked with this oneĀ of Wesley O’Driscoll. It is actually the second shot in a sequence, the first shot running in a few mags overseas and this shot running on Surfline and in the latest issue of Zigzag. Anyways click here to check the rest of the images in this months Surfline F-Stop.

Gear Shot…

A ‘Gear Shot’ i did with Mike van Heerden fromĀ Ocean Driven Media for the 2011 Zigzag Photo Journal. We’ve seen these shots before but hey, first one I’ve done and was fun… Shot Mike. Maybe i will look back in 10, 20 years and laugh how Big a 600mm was or any of the gear for that matter… Anyway, 2011 Zigzag Photo Journal in stores, pick up a copy, great job done by the boys!!

Gone but not forgotten…

They say scrapping it wasn’t worth the effort, maybe a million rand or two at best… In the end they spent 35 million of our taxpayers money trying to refloat it and eventually lay it to rest 2km offshore from Toti. Im not saying it should have stayed but a few more days like this and it may have been up for debate… (Click image to enlarge. Spread from Tracks Surfing Magazine)
