Otelo Burning

I went down and spent a day shooting some action and behind the scenes for Otelo Burning last year. Stoked to see them using one of my shots as the poster image for the movie.  The films world premier opened the Durban International Film Festival last night which runs until the 31 July. Go check it out…

Walking on the moon

Just stumbled upon one of my favourite lifestyle images being used on the Lizzard website. Completely a personal thing as it was being there that made the image memorable…

Lanzarote, one of the main islands that make up the Canaries is the most mind blowing place I have ever been to. For those of you old enough, you may remember a movie called Enemy Mine with Dennis Quaid, set on some distant planet in the future. It was filmed there back in the eighties, pretty cool if you know it. But the place itself really is something straight out of a movie. Black Volcanic lava fields and craters as far as you can see and running directly through it is this perfectly manicured road, completely surreal! So back to the image. Antonio Bortoletto, one who is never shy for a photo opp strutted his stuff and definitely ended with one of my favourite lifestyle images.

The 100 Best Waves

Brad ‘Mongoose’ Mommsen landing a spread in the latest Surfer Magazines 100 Best Waves article. This not so secret spot just over our boarder came in at #41. South Africa has 4 waves making the grade with that other not so secret point recently visited by myself and a saffa crew also getting in on the action. Get the August issue and check it out!

SA Surfing Awards 2011

Well done to Zigzag and in particular Jeremy Saville and the guys for putting on a great and successful SA Surfing Awards on Saturday evening. All embraced the 70’s theme and there was a lot of beer up for grabs for best dressed. I’m pretty sure if Jeremy were not the man in charge, all 12 cases would have most defiantly gone to him, classic Jem! Big congrats to all the winners, in particular to Jordy Smith and Bianca Buitendag for winning SA Surfers of the Year and AVG for taking Photographer for the Year, good stuff! I didn’t go home empty handed and walked off (literally) with a sweet AO canvas of Davey Weare, which was payment for images they used of mine for the awards. Like last year the awards themselves were canvases, which i think went down really well. Anyways, I’m stoked, going to look pretty good in my office, thanks guys!
